A modern, playful Brasserie on Götgatan, Stockholm. Food from the Mediterranean and a large wine list with a focus on natural wines.

Right now, our first Artist-in-Residence is in the house. The debater, illustrator and artist Bim Eriksson.

During the coming weeks, she has free reigns in creating her art right on our best wall. And, if you’re lucky, you might even meet her in person at her reserved space at the bar. If you're curious to see the artwork emerging, you’re welcome to come in for a glass of wine, something to eat and a conversation around art.

With a large focus on natural wines, with a soft spot for well crafted wines by smaller producers.

Being a resident artist was quite common in the past. It was a way for artists to get a place to paint freely, in exchange for the residence ensuring that the artist got food and had a roof over his head. In other words, the artist could refine his technique and paint undisturbed in exchange for subsistence.

We like this idea about resident artists and think it fits well even in the 2010s, so we take it back. We let our resident artist use the restaurant's best wall as a canvas. There are no guidelines for what can be painted. Therefore, neither we, nor our guests for that matter, know how the wall will look tomorrow, next month, or in half a year. Especially because periodically new resident artists will be at work.

An exciting feature that gives our guests an experience in addition to food and wine - and a reason to come by a little more often. At the restaurant we want to create a room for conversations about art, a bit like a cultural hub at Söder. Below you can read more about the artist who lives with us right now.

Bim Eriksson

Bim Eriksson is a comic artist and illustrator based in Stockholm, Sweden. Through her illustrations and comics she expresses the things most people don’t even dare to talk about. By playing with the traditionally cute and girly and combining it with something odd and serious she has come to be acknowledged for her raw, funny, smart and cocky style; regardless if she’s using her sticky fine liners on paper, draws on walls or paints with colorful acrylics. Since she released her first book in 2016, ”Det kändes lugnt när mina känslor dog”, she’s been exhibiting her work in solo shows all over Sweden, lecturing about comic creations at Shanghai International Studies University in China and received Stockholm’s Culture Scholarship for artists who made a big imprint on the city.
